Alberta is one of the thirteen provinces and territories of Canada. Alberta's area is approximately 660,000 square kilometres (250,000 sq mi). Alberta is bordered by the provinces of British Columbia to the west and Saskatchewan to the east, the Northwest Territories to the north, and the U.S. state of Montana to the south.

The Irish Sea lies northwest of England and the Celtic Sea to the southwest. England is separated from continental Europe by the North Sea to the east and the English Channel to the south.
